DORINGKLOOF CARE:
Live, work and grow in safety
Doringkloof community started a network of volunteers that became involved on a level of their choice or passion. This relates to our safety, but focus more on the people that live here. Their aim –
Turning neighbours into friends
Three groups started in June 2017 and function actively in our community
A WELCOME group prepares welcome packs with a special Doringkloof gift, an information brochure and gift- or discount vouchers. These volunteers then visit new residents and make them feel at home.
Anybody can join this group. We need businesses to provide gift vouchers to promote themselves and to bless new residents.
It is important that we know of new residents and we need to receive that information from our community members.
This group meets once every 6-8 weeks and mainly communicate through cell phone communication.
A TRAUMA network consists of volunteers and professionals whom will be sent out to incidents of death, trauma, abuse, etc. These incidents will be reported on the radio or other communication and then coordinators will send suitable people to assist.
We have trauma counsellors, social workers, nurses, first aid specialists, etc.
The care group will do follow up and further recommendations if needed.
There are also volunteers willing to assist the elderly in Doringkloof with a special need, for example transport to the bank, etc.
An active PRAYER group has been established. This network of prayer warriors are based across our neighbourhood and receives a weekly prayer request and take part in activities such as prayer walks. They pray for different community issues such as our families, safety, businesses, neighbourhood watch, etc.
There is also a special intersession group that reacts to special prayer requests of a more personal nature as well as confidential matters.
Our need is for all streets to have a prayer representative and an open communication system to communicate special requests.
NEW IDEAS:
We aim to start a training programme for our domestic workers to involve them in our community. We need some volunteers to assist with launching and running this programme. The training network has been identified and we look forward to have this programme taking off next year.
