FIGHTING CRIME

Kloofsig has reported a dramatic increase in wall jumpers/intruders.  Doringkloof is still experiencing serious crime such as burglaries, etc.  Yesterday a businessman was robbed at his place of work in Rose Ave after returning from the bank.  We also received a report of criminals lifting a gate off its rail and breaking into a vehicle.  Luckily they were spotted by a neighbour.  Should the neighbour have radioed in we could have mobilized and caught the criminals.  This again stresses the importance of having a radio (as well as your neighbours) and using it whenever necessary.

AGM

We would again like to encourage all residents to attend this year’s DRA Annual General Meeting on 9 April 2014 in the NG Kerk hall (Leonie St) starting at 19:00.  We will hopefully finish at 20:00.

This meeting is of the utmost importance as vital issue affecting the neighbourhood watch will be discussed.  One of the issues affecting the community will be the election of new committee members to the DRA committee, i.e. those that will guide the DRA for the next year.

If you are willing to serve on the committee or would like to nominate someone to serve on the committee, please forward their names to mrdramer@gmail.com together with a note stating that the nominee accepts his or her nomination.

COMMUNITY NEWS

Township developers have applied to the City of Tshwane to erect four blocks of flats, each four storeys high, on the vacant plot at the corner of Leonie St and Jean Ave, and south-east of Ridgebacks.

This development will have an impact on Doringkloof, amongst others; an increase in traffic in Doringkloof, removing of the low-rise building feel to our suburb, more stress on our municipal services, and if the application is granted could lead to Doringkloof being subjected to more high-rise buildings adjacent to or even in Doringkloof.  All this will ultimately decrease the value of properties in Doringkloof.

If you would like to stop this development, please hand in your written objections to the City of Tshwane at the following address: The Strategic Executive Director, City Planning, City of Tshwane Administration, Centurion Application Section, Room F8, Southern Region (Centurion), Corner Basden and Rabie Streets, Lyttelton Agricultural Holdings.

Your objections must reach the above address before 8 April 2014.

REGARDS,

DNW TEAM
